One of our shining stars here at Ventures in Cameron is Alyssa. She has been working at the Cameron Ventures since July of 2022. She attends two days per week and has been learning and practicing general janitorial skills in the building. Through weekly training she is learning to follow a routine schedule, increase her endurance and learning how to work cooperatively with others. When she’s not working she has been an active participant in cooking classes, computer skills training, money handling skills classes, arts and crafts. Finally, Alyssa has signed up for our Community Connect Program that goes to a couple of the homeless shelters in town and assists them with a variety of tasks that are set up for the morning by the manager. These tasks can include general cleaning of the lobby, lawn care work or helping with their food bank by organizing canned and boxed goods.
