Notes of Interest
Well… we’ve had several more mini vacations in the book since the first of the year and boy was the first one a big one! Venture’s staff took five individuals to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, this trip required a good deal of planning to organize the staff, air fare, lodging, entertainment, meals, activities and even a very small amount of rest time for the gang. The group had a wonderful time and brought back many great memories and souvenirs. Then shortly after the Disney trip the second trip of the year was to Wisconsin Dells where the group stayed at Mt Olympus theme park. They had a great time bowling, eating out and hanging out at the water park. Our next trip is to the Chanhassen Dinner Theater at the end of April so …stay tuned for more details or call Melissa Denotter at 715-468-2939.
Another point of interest has been occuring in our Rice Lake Day Center, in October we started a Friday group of four young adults who have various talents, interests and abilities but they all have one thing in common: the desire to meet new people their own age in the area, have fun and make some money along the way. How they’re doing this is by setting up social events such as holiday parties and social events, by doing this they have created more options for young adults with disabilities to meet people, talk, hangout , listen to music, sing and dance, play games and snack on pizza and pop in a safe place. When they’re not organizing parties you might find them learning how to complete job applications, learning how to interview for jobs, learning about budgeting money, cooking or watching movies and playing video games in their down time. If your interested in attending this group please contact Mike Grilley @ 715-736-6959.
